To continue with my meal idea. Today we have Chicken Fried Steak.
1/2 cup plus 2 tsp Flour
1/2 tsp thyme
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tbs water
4 minute steaks
3 tbs vegetable oil
3/4 c milk
On a sheet of waxed paper combine 1/2 c flour, thyme and 1/4 tsp salt. Garlic powder, pepper and cayenne. In bowl beet eggs and whisk in water. Dip steaks in egg mixture and then coat in flour mixture.
In heavy skillet, heat 1 1/2 tbs oil. Fry steaks 2 at a time, turning once untill golden brown and cooked through. About 4 minutes per side. Transfer to plate and keep warm.
Whisk remaining 2 tbs flour into skillet then add in milk and remaining salt. Cook. whisking untill thickened and smooth. Searve steaks with gravy on side.
This is wonderful over mashed potatos or french fries.
